Tool

WHOIS / RDAP

Fetches basic domain registration data via RDAP using the endpoint indicated by IANA.

MVP

WHOIS / RDAP

WHOIS / RDAP checker for domain registration data

The DataHouse WHOIS tool uses RDAP to read public domain registration data, registrar information, status values, important dates and nameserver data when exposed by the registry.

Registrar and status

Check whether the domain is active and which registrar operates it.

Dates

Review registration, update and expiration dates where the registry exposes them.

Nameservers

Compare public registration nameservers with DNS delegation results.

When should RDAP be checked?

  • Before DNS, registrar or ownership changes.
  • After domain migration or registrar transfer.
  • When nameserver data differs from what administrators expect.
  • During incident response involving a domain.
  • Together with DNS, SSL and mail checks.

How to use RDAP data

RDAP is queried first. If a TLD does not expose a usable RDAP endpoint, the tool reports that limitation instead of pretending to have complete registration data.

FAQ: WHOIS / RDAP

Does WHOIS use RDAP first?

Yes. The tool uses RDAP through the endpoint indicated by IANA when it is available for the TLD.
